| 1. If you have Netscape 3.0 or below, it is likely that you are unable to see the most important pages on our site, namely the "Land/Acreage" page, the Centre County page, the Clinton County page and the Residential home sites page, just to name a few. If you are still using Netscape 3.0 or below, please go to Netscape Download and download the latest version of Netscape Communicator or Netscape Navigator. |
| 2. North-Lands prides itself on keeping this site continually updated to make sure all of our current inventory is online. We will always have all of our inventory online, and we will always update immediately when new Counties or properties are added. |
| 3. Do NOT bookmark individual pages or bookmark
using the right click method.
When you bookmark pages within a framed site by using the right click method, you are bookmarking the individual page and NOT the frameset which includes the navigation buttons. Since it is impossible to navigate the site without the buttons, anyone trying to use a bookmark to an individual page, or anyone who has used the right click method to bookmark will be automaticically redirected to the main page frameset. To avoid the automatic redirection, please bookmark the main page ONLY using your browser and NOT the right click method. To bookmark using Netscape: Click on "Bookmarks", then "Add bookmark"(or "File Bookmark"if you have a particular folder you'd like the bookmark to be in.). To bookmark using MSIE: Click on "Favorites" and then "Add to favorites". Using either one of these methods (depending on which browser you are using) ensures that you have bookmarked the main page frameset. |
| 4. Make sure your Java Script is enabled.
To enable your java script, or to check that it is enabled, please use one of the following methods depending on which browser you are using: Netscape3.0 or higher: Click on the "Edit" menu, and then click on "Preferences". When the preference box opens, click on "Advanced" at the end of the list. On the right you will see a list of actions and either check marks or black boxes next to them. Make sure the one that says "Enable Java Script" is checked off. Then click, "OK" and close the preferences window. MSIE 4.0 or higher: Click on "Tools" menu, then click on "Internet Options". A box opens with several tabs...click on "Advanced" and you will see a list. Scroll down the list until you see "Java VM" and make sure "Java JIT compiler enabled" is checked off. |
| 5. Dumping your cache on a regular basis is
a very good idea. Your cache stores information, pages, and images
from the sites you have previously visited in a temporary folder.
When your cache gets too full, it "clogs" your system and slows down your
computer's performance. Dumping your cache on a regular basis will
give you better performance and help pages and photos to load faster.
How to manually dump your cache: Netscape 3.0 or higher: Click on the "Edit" menu, and then click on "Preferences". When the preference box opens, click on the "+" next to "Advanced", and then click on "Cache". Click on "Clear Memory Cache" and then click on "Clear Disk Cache". Click "OK" and then close the "Preferences" window. MSIE 4.0 or higher: Click on "Tools" menu, then click on "Internet Options". A box opens with several tabs...click on "General". The second option is "Temporary Internet Files". Click on "delete files", and then click "OK" and close the "Internet Options" box. |
| 6. Setting your cache to automatically dump
itself on a regular basis.
Netscape 3.0 or higher: Click on the "Edit" menu, and then click on "Preferences". When the preference box opens, click on "Navigator". The third option down is "History". You will see a sentence that says, "Pages in history expire after..." and it will tell you how many days it's set at. I believe default is "9" days. I suggest setting the number of days to "1" day. This will tell Netscape to automatically dump your cache at the end of each day, and your cache will never be too full to slow down your computer's performance. MSIE 4.0 or higher: Click on "Tools" menu, then click on "Internet Options". A box opens with several tabs...click on "General". The last option is "History". You will then see a sentence that says, "Days to keep in history" and there will be a number there. That is the number of days MSIE keeps in cache before it automatically dumps it. The default is "9" days. I suggest setting the number of days to "1" day. This will tell MSIE to automatically dump your cache at the end of each day, and your cache should never be too full to slow down your computer's performance. |
